Werner Mischler

Werner was born in Arbon, Switzerland in 1965. He has acted as an Extra in Hollywood movie ?Cutthroat Island? and was then inspired to take up photography during his extensive travels to Caribbean, Venezuela, Brazil, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. He major in Mechanical Engineering but was awe-struck with the underwater world while on vacation in Thailand. He started his Dive Master Course in 1992. Between now and then, he works in Thailand and Maldives as a professional PADI Diving Instructor and recently as a Whale Shark Specialty Program Instructor. It was during one of his diving expedition that his team sighted a whale shark in White Sands Resort & Spa in the Maldives that inspired him to capture the images on video. His passion towards this gentle giant has encouraged him to develop an identification library and compiling data of the whale shark?s encounters in this region and would want to be able to assist and contribute towards the conservation and ecotourism efforts.
